Torres moved from Liverpool to Chelsea on deadline day of the January transfer window in 2011 for what was then a record fee between two Premier League clubs. He did, however, fail to capture the scoring form which had made him such a feared striker at Anfield. The Spaniard's move to Chelsea is now regarded as one of the biggest English transfer flops of all time - which was no surprise to his former Liverpool team-mate Carragher, who s...

Clem Agba, minister of state for budget and planning, says the fire that gutted the office of the accountant-general of the federation (AGF) did not destroy any record. On Wednesday, fire broke out at the Treasury House, a building housing the AGF’s office. Officials of the Federal Fire Service and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) were able to put out the fire after about an hour later. Many had alleged that the fire was an attempt to cover up wrongdoing by the federal government. But speaking with journalists after inspecting the affected offices in Abuja, Agba said they are yet to take an inventory of what was destroyed in the fire but all the government’s financial transactions were intact. The minister said the fire was caused by a spark in one of the air ...

Liverpool Equal Manchester City’s Record Of 18 Consecutive Premier League Wins

Liverpool have equalled Manchester City’s record of 18 consecutive Premier League wins after beating West Ham 3-2 at Anfield on Monday night . Jurgen Klopp’s side have won every league game since they drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford in October, a result which, remarkably, remains the only time they have dropped points all season. The win also sends the Reds 22 points clear of City at the top of the table and within sight of claiming their first Premier League title. City’s 18-run winning sequence came during the 2017-18 season, when they won the title with a record-breaking 100 points, but Liverpool are on course to surpass that mark this season. The Merseysiders can set a new record of 19 straight league wins when they travel to relegation-threatened Watford ...

Real Madrid Set New Defensive Record

The win over Atletico Madrid in the derby not only secured the top spot in the league, but also set a new record for Real Madrid. With 13 goals conceded in 22 games, Zidane's side are now the lowest-conceding Madrid in LaLiga history at this stage of the season. You have to look back more than 30 years, to the 1987/88 season, to find the record that the Whites have just surpassed. On that occasion, the Real Madrid team conceded 14 goals in their first 22 matches. Also in the 1961/62 and 1964/65 seasons this record was achieved.  In those three seasons, Real Madrid ended up winning LaLiga. Clean sheets If there's one thing that stands out about the defensive solidity of the squad, it's the number of times the team has kept a clean sheet. They have remained unbeaten in 12 LaLiga games...

The teenager's two strikes in the first period have etched him into the record books once again Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati has become the youngest player to score a brace in La Liga with his two goals in the first half of the 2-0 victory against Levante on Sunday. Fati, aged 17 years and 94 days, struck in the 30th and 31st minutes at Camp Nou to surpass the record set by Real Zaragoza's Juanmi Jimenez in 2010, who was 17 years and 115 days at the time. The Guinea-Bissau-born attacker started the match in a three-man attack with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann but proved to be the most lethal of the trio in front of goal across the opening 45 minutes. With 30 minutes on the clock, Messi played a wonderful, defence-splitting through ball to set Fati through on goal, an...
