IMSU Student Arrested for Cultism

The Imo state police command has arrested a 20-year-old student of the Imo state University, Onyeme Victor Chimaobi, pictured above, for engaging in cultism. A statement released by SP Orlando Ikeokwu, operatives of the Divisional Police Hqrs, Shell Camp, Owerri, intercepted the suspect during a routine patrol. Ikeokwu said locally made Pistols and two live ammunition were recovered from the suspect. The police spokesperson said the suspect confessed to be the owner of the gun and said he uses it for his personal protection. The police spokesperson added that the suspect would be arraigned in court as soon as possible.

30 Dead, 65 Rescued in Niger State boat Mishap

Thirty bodies have been recovered while 65 persons were rescued by local divers after a boat mishap in Tijana in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State. A local boat carrying about 100 people, including women and children, capsized midway into the journey, at about 6:00pm, on Saturday, May 8. A search and rescue operation began immediately and 30 bodies have been recovered so far. Local divers are still in search of the remaining bodies.
