A little boy identified as David has been rescued by the Child's Right and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN) in Eket, Akwa Ibom State. The boy was found wandering the streets at night on April 15 and brought to the CRARN children shelter. According to the NGO, the boy told them that he and his brother were abused and starved by their stepmother after their mother died while giving birth to twins. "He was roaming the streets in th wee hours of night around Ikot Afaha, Eket where CRARN is situated, even though he's from Ekpene Obo, Esit Eket. Oyo Crisis: 20 Buried In Ibadan, 5,000 Take Refuge

At least 11 people have been buried on Sunday in the aftermath of Friday’s altercation between Hausa and Yoruba traders at Shasa Market in Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State. Also, about 5,000 Hausa traders, women and children displaced by the violence were still taking refuge at the residence of the Sarkin Shasa, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), in Ibadan. The Sarkin Sasa, who spoke with Daily Trust, said 11 victims were prepared for burial in his compound. A man has died after he was struck by lightning during a downpour in Edo state. The man, identified simply as Mr. Edafe, died on Thursday, June 4, in Benin, Edo State. The deceased was reportedly working at a building site around the Cattle Market in Asoro Hill, on Ekehuan Road, when the rain started. He took refuge in a nearby uncompleted building. While there, waiting for the rain to subside, he was struck by lightning and he died instantly.
