Details of Bruno Fernandes’ new deal revealed

Bruno Fernandes is close to extending his contract with Manchester United, according to the UK Sun. It will be a five-year deal for the Portugal midfielder and a raise to more than £250,000 a week. Fernandes joined United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for a fee that could rise to almost £70m. However, he has remained on the same terms he initially signed for, despite coming a kind of talisman at Old Trafford. Since his arrival, Fernandes has scored 44 times in 85 matches. Manchester United have renewed the contracts of Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly. But negotiations with Fernandes have proved a little more complex. However, it is understood that he “is near to putting pen to paper”.

Katsina youths block major road in protest over insecurity

Youths in Yantumaki, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State on Monday, August 16, took to the streets to protest the deplorable state of security in the state. The youths who came out in the numbers set up burn fires along the Katsina/Funtua highway as they engaged in the renewed protest after bandits attacked Amarawa village today, killing two persons and destroying houses and other properties. The rampaging youths barricaded the highway as early as 6 a.m with unused tyres and debris, the development which disrupted traffic flow on the highway for hours. Kaduna: Five killed as gunmen attack communities in Zangon Kataf

Five people have been killed in series of attacks on communities within Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed the killings in a statement on Saturday, August 7, said the State Government has renewed appeals to citizens to end deadly cycles of violence. The Commissioner said a 10-year-old herder was killed by unidentified persons around Madauchi Forest, Zangon Kataf LGA. "The boy identified as the son of one Alhaji Dare Mato was attacked while herding cattle. The corpse of the young herder was recovered and buried," he stated. In a statement released by the Ministry's spokesperson, Clement Aduku last night, the ministry said the reports of renewed attacks calls for great concern as it comes few weeks after an attack that caused grave damage to Nigerians and their businesses. According to the statement, an altercation between two Nigerians and some South Africans led to a fight at a motorpark in Polokwane at the Limpopo province on March 14th.
