Police Denies Reports Claiming Schools in Abuja have been Shutdown over Fear of Bandit attack

The FCT police command has dismissed reports claiming schools in the capital city have been shut down over fears of bandit attacks. Reports have been rife on social media that the Nigerian Law School and Veritas University in the Bwari Area Council, as well ass other schools, have been shut down over fear of Bandits or Fulani herdsmen attacks. Speaking to Vanguard, a senior Police Officer who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that contrary to reports in the media, Veritas University has been on vacation after its first session programs were rounded up since the 3rd of May 2021. CJN Postpones Inauguration of 18 Appeal Court Judges Indefinitely

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Muhammad has postponed the swearing-in of the 18 newly appointed justices of the appeal court. The inauguration ceremony was scheduled to hold on April 29, but has now been postponed indefinitely. Though no reason was given for the postponement, it has however been linked to the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN). The Judges are also expected to "clear their desks" and ensure there are no outstanding issues before assuming their new responsibilities.

The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KSIRS) Thursday shut down the telecom service provider, MTN, in the state over alleged refusal to pay N120 million debt. Last November, the KSIRS, upon the order of the High Court in the state granted on the account of the fact that MTN in state has failed in her responsibility and legal obligation to discharge its tax obligations to the state. The Court of Appeal in Abuja yesterday ruled that the Special Presidential Panel on Assets Recovery lacked prosecutorial power and hence cannot initiate criminal proceedings against any accused person. The court further held that the panel headed by Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, lacked the constitutional power to seize properties of alleged offenders.
