Champions League: Barcelona is in Critical Condition – Busquets

Barcelona midfielder, Sergio Busqets, has admitted the club’s situation is “critical”. This follows a 3-0 thrashing at Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday night. It was the second successive time the Catalan club has lost by that margin in the competition. Two goals from Darwin Nunez sandwiched a Rafa Silva strike in Lisbon, as Benfica followed Bayern Munich in putting three goals past Ronald Koeman’s struggling side. It’s the first time Barca have suffered back-to-back defeats in the group stage of the Champions League since 2000 and they are in real danger of not making the knockout rounds for the first time in 21 years. “That’s the easiest thing in the world of football, but everyone has their share in the responsibility, [including] the players. ...

Barcelona star, Ansu Fati says he feels ‘no pressure’ inheriting Lionel Messi’s No 10 shirt

Barcelona superstar, Ansu Fati has stated that he feels 'no pressure' after taking on the responsibility of the No 10 shirt that Lionel Messi wore at Barcelona. The Catalan giants were unable to retire Messi's shirt after he joined PSG as the Spanish FA's rules require LaLiga teams to assign their 25-man squad the numbers 1-25. Barcelona then made the decision to hand it to another graduate of the club's famed La Masia academy instead. Fati, who swapped from No 17 to 10, scored his first goal in the shirt during Barcelona's victory over Levante over the weekend. Speaking after the game, the youngster says he feels proud rather than nervous when it comes to wearing the jersey. He said: 'It is not a pressure. I am proud to wear the number 10 ...

Tottenham manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, has taken full responsibility for their 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday. The Gunners raced to a three-goal lead in the first half thanks to goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka. Spurs could only manage a consolation goal in the 79th minute. Nuno had picked Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele in his starting XI, but both midfielders were taken off at half-time. “I decided bad. Didn’t make the right decisions. And I refuse to go much further than that. It’s my responsibility. All I have to say, I’ll say it to the players among us. Because [we] must solve the problem. “I have a message [for the fans]. A message that we are disappointed because today was a special game for all of us, for our fans, and we didn’t ...

Tuchel Names Chelsea Player Responsible for 1-0 Defeat to Arsenal

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, was left unimpressed with Jorginho’s wayward back pass that led to Arsenal’s winning goal on Wednesday night. The midfielder’s pass ran past goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, creeping into the open net. While Kepa kept the ball out, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang squared to Emile Smith Rowe for a simple tap-in. Tuchel was left angry with the “total gift” handed to the Gunners. “It’s totally our fault, nobody elses. I think we lost the game. It’s totally our responsibility. We had huge changes, we made an own goal more or less. A total gift. “But overall we were not sharp enough. We could not put the same energy in as usual,” the German told a press conference after the game. When asked whether Jorginho should have passed it wide of the...

EPL: Aguero Apologizes for ‘Bad Decision’ During Man City’s 2-1 Defeat to Chelsea

Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero, has penned a public apology to his team-mates, staff and fans of the club, after missing a penalty in their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday. In a tweet on Saturday night, Aguero described his attempt to chip Eduoard Mendy as a “bad decision”. The Premier League leaders were already one goal up thanks to Raheem Sterling. Aguero, who is leaving City this summer, had the chance to make it 2-0 just before half time, but shot tamely at Mendy.
