A former star on the show "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" has been sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison for charges related to a Ponzi scheme and for a fraudulent Paycheck Protection Program loan application The Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, Kurt Erskine, said Maurice Fayne, 38, ran a multistate Ponzi scheme that defrauded more than 20 people who invested in his trucking business. Officials said Fayne, also known as Arkansas Mo, promised he would use investors' money to operate the business. Nigerian Sentenced To 90 Months In US For Money Laundering, Identity Theft

A Nigerian man, Kelvin Otunyo has been sentenced to 7 and a half years in prison by the US District court on charges of fraud, money laundering and identity theft scheme. The 37-year-old Nigerian was sentenced on Friday over his involvement in at least six schemes to deposit and launder stolen and unauthorised cheques valued at more than $350,000 (N144 million). Otunyo pleaded guilty on April 1, 2021, in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, to two counts of bank fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft, and two counts of conspiracy to commit money laundering, as stated on the Justice department's website. Justice Umaru Fadawu of the Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri, on July 16, 2021, sentenced a serial fraudster, Alen Abel to fifteen years imprisonment for obtaining N4, 065, 000.00 (Four Million, Sixty-five Thousand Naira), under false pretence. A consultant anatomic and forensic pathologist, Prof. John Obafunwa on Saturday, June 5, told the Lagos state judicial panel on restitution for victims of SARS related abuses and other matters, that the coroner's office conducted post mortem autopsies on 99 bodies between the October 20 and 27 during and after the #EndSARS protest. Darryl Anthony Howard, now 59, was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder for the 1991 deaths of Doris Washington, 29, and her 13-year-old daughter Nishonda, as well as first-degree arson. He was sentenced to two consecutive 40-year terms.The victims also appeared to have been sexually assaulted.
