According to an eyewitness, Uwaifo Obiano who share the video on Facebook, the man died due to the unfriendly attitude of the new generation bank staff. Residents forced to fetch water from streams as water scarcity causes a keg of water to sell for 250 Naira

Residents of some FCT communities have resorted to fetching water from the streams and rivers due to water scarcity. The scarcity has caused a 25-litre keg of water to be sold for 250 Naira. Residents living in Kubwa, Bwari, Dede, Dutse, Kaigini, among others, are the worst hit and they either have to patronise water hawkers at the rate of 250 Naira per keg or join long queues at public boreholes. The FCT Water Board had last week appealed to residents to persevere pending when repair and maintenance work are carried out on the Usama Dam Treatment Plant. The National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Rivers Command, said it arrested two persons who allegedly tried to smuggle 115 kilogrammes of illicit drugs into the state. Police uncover baby factory, rescue 19 pregnant girls

Lagos State Police Command has rescued 19 pregnant girls, between the age of 15 and 28, from a ‘baby factory’ at Ayanwale area of Ikotun. Two female suspects – 40-year-old Happiness Ukwuoma and 54-year-old Sherifat Ipeya – involved in the scandal, were arrested. The pregnant women were brought from Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Abia and Imo states. The Command has launched a manhunt of the principal suspect, Madam Oluchi from Mbano, Imo State. The victims were mostly abducted for the purpose of getting them pregnant and selling the babies to potential buyers. They were tricked with employment as domestic staff in Lagos. The Rivers state monarch, Eze Edison Omeodu of Omofe Rundele in Emohua local government area of Rivers, who was kidnapped last week by some unknown gunmen has regained his freedom. Confirming his release, his wife, Dr. Nnenda Omeodu, said a ransom was paid to secure the monarch’s release. Eze Edison Omeodu was abducted along with his driver on Friday, July 5 at the Emohua axis of East-West while on his way back from Port Harcourt. The amount paid as ransom for his release was not disclosed by his wife.

Domestic Debts Of 36 States, FCT Hit N3.5trn In H1’18

The Debt Management Office (DMO), yesterday, said the domestic debt stock of the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) stood at N3.5 trillion as at the first half of 2018 (H1’18). The figure indicates that the states and FCT increased their debt stock by about N200 billion or 6.0 percent over the N3.3 trillion recorded at the end of December 2017. According to data released by DMO on its website, Lagos State has the highest debt stock at N517 billion or 17 percent of the total debt stock of states. The death toll from the Lassa fever disease ravaging the country since the beginning of the year has risen to 101, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has said. Health minister Isaac Adewole Monday announced that the outbreak of Lassa fever has spread to 15 states, recording 31 deaths.
