10 policemen injured in accident involving Governor Bala’s convoy

An accident involving the convoy of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, has left 10 policemen injured.   The accident occurred on Monday March 1, while the governor was inspecting a 60- kilometer road project in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area (LGA).   It was gathered that the Toyota Hilux conveying the police officers veered off the road around 1:30 p.m and somersaulted twice after losing control as a result of the huge dust that made visibility almost impossible.   No life was lost and those injured have been taken to Bununu general hospital in Tafawa Balewa LGA for treatment.

Ekweremadu Commends Federal Government For Road Project in His Community

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has commended the Federal Government for awarding a contract for the construction of the Nenwe-Nomeh-Mburumbu-Nara road in Enugu State. Speaking when he inspected ongoing work on the road, Ekweremadu noted that the project would boost economic activities in some rural, agrarian communities in the state. Bad Road Is Not The Cause of Accidents on Highways – Fashola

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said that bad roads are not the cause of accidents on highways in Nigeria. Fashola said that injuries and avoidable accidents that occur on highways are not always due to bad roads as claimed by many Nigerian road users. He stated this when he spoke at a capacity building workshop on the activation of the five United Nations’ Convention on Road Traffic acceded to by Nigeria in Abuja yesterday March 20th. According to him over speeding and reckless driving are the main causes of accidents on Nigerian roads. Buhari Approves N73bn Road Project For Lagos, Okays Dangote As Contractor

The Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Wednesday approved N72.9billion for the reconstruction of the road from Apapa to the toll gate on Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Lagos State. Delta Govt Assures on Completion of Palliative Works On Roads

Delta  State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, has reiterated the commitment of the state government to complete palliative works on all ongoing road projects in Asaba and Okpanam areas before the commencement of the African Senior Athletics Championship billed to hold from August 1 to 5 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in the state capital.
