Nine police officers and two vigilante members killed by bandits in Kebbi

Bandits on Sunday April 26, killed a divisional police officer and eight other officers in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State for trying to repel them. Two vigilante members who responded to a distress call with the officers, were also killed by the bandits. Police spokesperson in Kebbi, Nafi’u Abubakar told Premium Times that the bandits had launched an attack at Makuku and surrounding villages in Sakaba council area. Abubakar said; “Upon arrival in the area, the police engaged the criminals in a fire fight. Unfortunately, the the DPO and eight of his men and two vigilante members paid the supreme call defending their fatherland." Residents Flee as Bandits Attack Sokoto Communities, Kill Four

Some communities in the eastern part of Sokoto state are deserted after armed bandits killed four persons and rustled several livestock. Colonel Garba Moyi (Rtd), the state Commissioner for Carrier and Security Matters, who  confirmed the attacks, said three persons were killed at Bargaja village in Isa local government area while one was killed in a community under Sabon Birni local government. It was gathered that the armed bandits invaded Bargaja around 2pm on Thursday, shooting sporadically. Four Reportedly Killed, 11 Kidnapped as Bandits Return to Kagara Community

At least four persons have reportedly been killed in fresh attacks in Kagara community in Niger State. This attack comes after the 27 students and three teachers of the Government Science College in Kagara abducted by suspected bandits last Wednesday, February 17, regained their freedom in the early hours of today, February 27. According to DailyTrust, the bandits attacked Gidan Adamu, near Yakila, headquarters of Gunna district and Gidan Wamban Karaku community where 11 persons which include seven women were abducted. The bandits were said to have rustled a large number of cows and also kidnapped the Imam of Madaka district in Rubo village.

Bandits Learnt Kidnapping from Niger Delta Militants – Sheik Gumi

Prominent Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi has continued his call for amnesty to be granted to bandits spearheading violent attacks in the Northern region of the country. Gumi who appeared on Africa Independent Television (AIT) on Tuesday February 16, said bandits learnt how to kidnap from Niger Delta Militants and should be granted amnesty just like them.
