Troops Rescue 15 Kidnapped Commuters in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Safe Haven have rescued 15 commuters in Jagindi, Jema'a Local Government Area of Kaduna State. State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, August 23, said the 15 persons were kidnapped from two vehicles in the area while on transit. "The troops responded to a distress call and mobilized swiftly to the location. They repelled the bandits, enabling the rescue of the abducted persons," Mr Aruwan stated. Three herders killed in reprisal attack on Kaduna community

Three herders have been reportedly killed in a reprisal attack by gunmen who stormed Ribok, Tsoriyang and Kankada areas of Zangon Kataf LGA, Kaduna state. Security agencies said the attack on Sunday August 22, was in retaliation to the earlier attack in Ungwan Dooh (Mado) area on Saturday night. One car, three houses, and eight herders’ huts were burnt, while scores of herders were evacuated to safety by a combined team of military and police personnel. Armed bandits have killed seven people in the last 72 hours in Chikun, Kajuru and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna State. It was also gathered that four of the 26 victims kidnapped by bandits at Ungwan Madaki in Kakau, Chikun LG, on June 18, 2021, were killed after their families failed to pay ranson. The Kaduna state government has announced that 323 people were killed by bandits in the State between January and March 2021.
