Angola Decriminalises Same-Sex Sexual Relationships

A new law decriminalising same-sex sexual relations in Angola has gone into effect on Wednesday. According to reports, the new law overturned a colonial-era ban on homosexual relations which described it as "vice against nature”. Activist Jean-Luc Romero-Michel tweeted, "The law decriminalising homosexuality adopted in Angola in 2019 took effect today. Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is now reprehensible and even punishable by prison." He said it was “a great step forward” in the fight against state-sponsored discrimination against the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer and intersex) community. US Celebs Are Waking Up With #MuteRKelly After Years Of Silence

US stars have joined the #MuteRKelly movement which has been reignited by the Times Up campaign, resulting in one of his shows being cancelled. The call for R Kelly to be "muted" is not new, however it has resurfaced with help of the call by the Times Up's campaign, which gained momentum and attracted a lot of support from big names. R. Kelly has been accused of sexual relationships with minors going back to 1994, when he married the then 15-year-old pop star, Aaliyah.
