He also expressed worry over the insecurity witnessed across the country. The former President said; “I thank you for coming to sympathise with me and my family. The fact that a soldier lost his life in that attack traumatizes me. That young man wouldn’t have died, the way he did, if he was not protecting me. “Whenever people come to me, just as you people have come, to talk about that attack, I feel worried about the general society. “Whenever I...

South Korea’s First Transgender Soldier Thrown Out Of The Army

South Korea’s first transgender soldier who underwent a gender reassignment surgery to become a woman has been thrown out of the army   Sgt. Byun Hui-su, who had the operation in Thailand last year while on leave, had expressed hope of continuing to serve in the female corps before a military panel voted to throw her out today.   The army said in a statement that while it will make efforts to protect soldiers’ human rights and prevent discrimination, the surgery left Byun unable to continue to serve, a ruling that Byun Hui-su had vowed to “fight.”     Speaking at a press conference at the Center for Military Human Right Korea on Wednesday, Sgt. Byun Hui-su said: “I will continue to fight until the day I can remain to serve in the army,” she ...

Shina Peller To Sponsor Education Of Daughter Of A Soldier Killed In Warfront

Remembrance Day: Shina Peller To Sponsor Education Of Fallen Hero's Child Yesterday, I paid a condolence visit to the family of the fallen Iseyin-born brave soldier, Ismail Ishola Ojeke, who was killed at warfront alongside his colleagues in Borno State while trying to defend our country and Nigerians from terrorist attacks. I met and shared words of encouragement with his parent, wife and other close members of the family on the demise of this courageous son of ours. In my own little way of immortalizing the departed soldier, I have decided to give scholarship to the only child, Hanat Ogunbiyi, that he has left behind. May God grant Ismail and other departed soldiers an eternal rest and give their family the fortitude to bear their loss.

Two rockets hit Iraqi capital’s Green Zone ― Security sources

Two rockets crashed late Wednesday into the Iraqi capital’s Green Zone, the high-security enclave where foreign embassies including the US mission are based, security sources told AFP. Just before midnight, AFP correspondents in Baghdad heard two loud blasts followed by the wailing security sirens of the Green Zone. The attack came nearly 24 hours after Tehran launched ballistic missiles at Iraqi bases housing American and other coalition forces, which did not cause casualties. The strikes were in retaliation for a US drone strike that killed top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis last week. Muhandis had been the deputy head of the Hashed al-Shaabi, a web of armed groups incorporated into the Iraqi state but which also have close ties to T...

Corper Defeats Nigerian Soldier In Push Up Challenge

A Nigerian soldier was made mockery of by a platoon he's heading after a male corper defeated him in a push up challenge. The soldier who couldn't believe his eyes over the guys strength, had to give up as counting was still ongoing. Chants of "morale high" fixed the atmosphere as the officer got defeated. Literally, push ups are like food to soldiers but in this case, we can't really ascertain what went wrong.
