Fire Guts Olaleye Market In Somolu, Lagos

Residents of Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State were jolted awake on Saturday morning as fire razed the Olaleye Market in the area. We gathered that the fire started around 3am, consuming goods and property worth billions of naira. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained and no casualty has been recorded yet. But officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Fire Service have arrived at the scene. Lagos Policemen Lament Non-payment Of Election Duty Allowances

Policemen attached to the Pedro Police Station, Somolu, have lamented the non-payment of their allowances for the 2019 General Elections. We gathered that the allowances, which were for election duties, had been paid to policemen in other formations and divisions. However, cops attached to the Pedro division were said to have been sidelined in the payment. One of the affected policemen said no one had explained what went wrong to them. He said, “There are 11 divisions under Area H Command and only Pedro division has not been paid. The allowances for election duties were supposed to be paid once into our accounts. Lagos Unveils Roadmap To Fix Potholes, Tackle Flooding

The Lagos State Government yesterday unveiled its roadmap targeted at maintaining and rehabilitating roads across the state as well as comprehensive drainage maintenance and flood control programme between August and December 2017. Recently appointed Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Public Works and Drainages, Temidayo Erinle, who reeled out the roadmap at a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said in the coming days, the state government, through the Public Works Corporation, would carry out rehabilitation works on 43 major link roads across the State, while other major highways and arterial roads found to be in bad state would be fixed. The increase by Lagos chapter of the institution, which may act as a test bed for professional scale of fees in the built environment sector has ruffled feathers in the housing industry. For deceiving and misleading him, Adeyemi Ademola, father of the twins abandoned by their birth mother at the Felken Maternity Centre, Lagos, has vowed not to take back his runaway wife, Sarah, even as he plans to relocate from his current abode.
