DSS speaks on court judgment ordering payment of N20bn to Igboho

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reacted to court a judgement issued on Friday September 17, asking it to pay N20 billion to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho. Justice Ladiran Akintola of Oyo State High Court gave the order in a suit filed by Igboho, through his lawyer, Yomi Aliu, SAN over the invasion of his home by the secret police at about 1:30am on July 1, 2021. Spokesman of DSS, Peter Afunanya who reacted to the judgement told Daily Trust they are yet to be notified about it by the court. He said;  “The court possibly has not informed us. So, my official response is that I don’t have any comments.”

An Oyo state High Court has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to pay N20 billion to Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho. The payment is for damages done to his Soka home in Ibadan during the July 1 invasion by the DSS. Justice Ladiran Akintola gave the order Friday, September 17, in a suit filed by Igboho, who is currently in detention in Benin Republic. The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a remand application at the Federal High Court in Abuja, asking the court to nullify the bail earlier granted to four of the 12 detained associates of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho.
