Newcastle make offer for Sevilla defender Carlos

Newcastle are continuing to push to sign Diego Carlos and are awaiting a response from Sevilla after submitting a bid for the defender. Signing a centre-back is Newcastle's primary focus after the arrival of striker Chris Wood from Burnley for £25m on Thursday. The Premier League side retain a strong interest in Benoit Badiashile, but a deal for the Monaco defender is now looking unlikely after he sustained an injury during his side's draw with Nantes. Another stumbling block is Monaco's asking price, with the Ligue 1 side looking for a fee in the region of €60m (£50m) for the 20-year-old. Carlos, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics with Brazil in the summer, has made 27 appearances for Sevilla this season, scoring two goals. Lille's Sven Botman was ...

Two top players, loanees that could join Chelsea this January

Names of about two players and two loanees Chelsea could bring to Stamford Bridge in this January transfer window have emerged. The January transfer window offers the chance to rebalance the squad and also address any glaring issues as Chelsea heads into 2022 with renewed optimism. Chelsea confirmed on Tuesday that their left-back, Ben Chilwell, will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury he sustained against Juventus in the Champions Leagues in November. That leaves Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel with just one senior recognized left-back in the form of Marcos Alonso. As a result of that, the Blues are keen to bring in cover and competition for Alonso in the January window and are exploring a host of options. Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that t...

“Call to Declare end of Korean War is Premature – North Korea tells South Korea

North Korea says South Korea's call to declare a formal end to the Korean War is premature as there is no guarantee it would lead to peace in the Korean peninsula. The two Koreas are still technically at war after their 1950-53 conflict ended in a ceasefire following huge involvement from the US and China. Since the war ended with a ceasefire rather than a peace treaty, war can still break out between both sides at anytime with the US pledging to defend South Korea while China sides with North Korea. South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday, September 21, made a call for a formal end to the Korean War in an address to the UN General Assembly and proposed that the two Koreas with the United States, or with the US and China, make such a declaration. But North Korea h...
