Okorodudu made the appeal in Koko when he played host to students of secondary schools in the area. His words: “Students from Warri North are travelling to other places to sit for JAMB examination because the local government does not have a CBC. SENATE President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Monday took a swipe at All Progressives Congress, APC Stalwart, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for accusing him that he dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP because he wanted automatic ticket and sharing of the national wealth, saying that the former Lagos State governor was only engaging in rhetorics. Saraki noted that he left the APC for PDP because the party generally ignored justice, equity and inclusiveness, just as he said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration constantly treated the National Assembly, especially the Senate with contempt and acted as if the law making body should be an appendage of the Executive, which to him, was unacceptable, adding that it became imperative for him to stand by the legislative arm and defend ...

Governor Nasir El Rufai sacked 25,000 primary school teachers as well as over 4000 local government workers in the state last year for various offences. But addressing his supporters at various fora when he embarked on a tour of the 23 local governments in the state, Ashiru, who was the former chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, said it was unfair to lay off thousands of workers when it was the responsibility of  government to create employment to the citizens. He also promised that his administration would frontally tackle the “unacceptable” security situation in the state. “Our state has never witnessed the kind of backwardness we are now forced into. It is very unfair to lay off thousands of workers at a time when other alternatives are very hard. “Yo...

Qatar: Saudi Demands Unacceptable, Not Backed By Proof

Qatar has rejected a list of demands submitted by four Arab countries that have cut ties with it as unacceptable, saying that Doha agrees with the United States that they should push for a "rational" solution to a major Gulf crisis. The comments on Tuesday by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's foreign minister, came after a meeting with his US counterpart, Rex Tillerson, in Washington, DC. Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister said that there will be no negotiations over his country's demand that Qatar stops supporting "terrorism" - an allegation Doha denies. "What has been presented by the countries of the blockade are merely claims that are not proved by evidence and are not demands," said Al Thani. "Negotiations require a real will by the other p...
