Kenyan Lawmaker Found Dead in his Hotel Room in India

A Member of the County Assembly of Kiambi, Kenya, Cyrus Omondi was found dead in his hotel room in Mumbai, India. Rono Kosigi, the Liaison Officer at the Kenyan High Commission in India, confirmed the incident on Wednesday. The MCA who represents Kahawa Wendani Ward was in India for a workshop alongside his colleagues in the Education committee The cause of his death could not be immediately established. However, Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu said that preliminary reports indicate that the Rep suffered heart attack. Mr Omondi alias Gearbox rose to fame after he emerged amongst the few non-native leaders to win ward seats in Kiambu County after a heated contest in 2017.

A tanker on Tuesday, exploded inside a mechanic workshop at Amawbia bypass,Enugu /Onitsha Expressway Awka, the Anambra state capital. Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said that the fire was raging. CJ warns Sharia court judges against corrupt practices, laxity

Danladi gave the warning in Katsina on Wednesday while delivering a keynote address at a two-day workshop on Shariah Procedure and Practice, organised for judges of Sharia Court in the state. He said that there were complaints on some of the judges, hence the need for them to adhere to the judicial ethics and code of conducts. Prison Service To Employ 6,545 Personnel – CG

The Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) said it has obtained waiver from the Federal Government to employ 6,545 staff members in different cadre of the service. Comptroller General (CG), NPS, Mr Jaffaru Ahmed made the disclosure on Monday in Abuja during the 2017 budget defence in the House of Representatives. Ahmed explained that the service had inadequate personnel, which prompted the waiver for employment, saying that N6 billion has been earmarked for it. On the 2017 budget the CG said that N72.3 billion was proposed out of which N37.5 was earmarked for personnel with N19 billion for overhead and N16 billion for feeding of inmates and dogs.
