22 men arrested for alleged internet fraud in Ogbomoso

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Command have arrested 22 suspected ”Yahoo Boys” for alleged involvement in internet fraud in Ogbomoso. The suspect were arrested on Tuesday, October 12. The suspects are Akintunde Ibrahim Olajide, Yusuf Taiye Afeez, Jimoh Idris Okikiola, Adeyemo Wariz Adegoke, Ademola Olalekan Saheed, Anif Abayomi Busayo, Oriade Sunday Oluwatobi, Ajadi Opeyemi Damilola,Peter Akanji Blessing,Olaoluwa Felix Oguniran, Agbei Shola Peter, Toheeb Adeagbo Tola, Ajayi Akinyinka Umar. Multiple Twitter users have reported that a groom at the wedding they attended was kidnapped by fraudsters, known as Yahoo boys. According to eye witness accounts, the wedding was holding at a hotel in Abeokuta when the Yahoo boys arrived in a Mercedes-Benz and bundled the groom into the car.   The groom is said to have played a fast one on the Yahoo Boys, making them lose money, hence the abduction.   See tweets below.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office, has arrested 33 suspected Internet fraudsters in Abeokuta, Ogun. A rather interesting video which has begun making rounds on the internet shows a set internet fraudsters better known as “yahoo boys” beating up another set of yahoo boys who allegedly defrauded them. According to reports surrounding the video, the yahoo boys being punished in the video were not smart enough to cover their tracks after defrauding the other yahoo boys, hence the reason why it was easy to track them down. The second set of cyber fraudsters were stripped down and given punishment while they were also beaten. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested six suspected internet fraudster with a mini coffin in Ibadan, Oyo State.   The suspects are Azeez Adebowale, Toyinsola Bolumole, Ifelowo Ololade, Sonuyi Ayodeji, Folarin Olayinka, and Aluko Olawale.     They were arrested during a raid by EFCC operatives of Oluyole and Alao-Akala estates in Ibadan.   EFCC acting spokesperson, Tony Orilade, in a statement on Tuesday, March 3, said the operatives recovered from the suspects items including four cars, various brands of sophisticated phones and an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.   Mr Orilade said one of the suspects, Mr Adebowale, 38; claimed to be using the coffin as a soap rack to hypnotise his victims...

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said it recorded no fewer than 200 arrests of Internet fraud suspects, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’, in October alone. Ghana deports 17 Nigerian alleged Yahoo boys

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has deported 17 out of 29 persons arrested in Ho, the Volta Regional capital for their alleged involvement in cyber crimes, known in Nigeria as ‘yahoo, yahoo’. According to The Ghanaian Times, the Nigerians were handed over to the GIS for screening, following their arrest to determine their immigration status. The Ho Municipal Police Commander, DSP Anthony Danso, who briefed the Times on Tuesday, said it emerged that the deported persons did not have good immigration standing. Those who were found to be legal residents of Ho, were released and reunited with their various communities.
