The Federal Executive Council, FEC, presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday approved about 26 million dollars for various power projects in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states. The Debt Management Office (DMO), yesterday, said the domestic debt stock of the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) stood at N3.5 trillion as at the first half of 2018 (H1’18). The figure indicates that the states and FCT increased their debt stock by about N200 billion or 6.0 percent over the N3.3 trillion recorded at the end of December 2017. According to data released by DMO on its website, Lagos State has the highest debt stock at N517 billion or 17 percent of the total debt stock of states. A lawmaker, Danjuma La’ah (PDP, Kaduna South) has rejected the Federal Government’s intention of creating cattle colonies in his senatorial district. In a statement he signed, the senator urged the federal government to demand land to build universities and other institutions instead of creating cattle colonies, adding that Kaduna state has already given out much land. The National Bureau of Statistics(NBS) says the average transport fare paid by commuters across the country increased by 23.99 percent in December 2017. The Bureau disclosed this in its monthly Transport Fare Watch released on Wednesday. It said the average fare for bus journey within the cities across Nigeria increased by 23.99% month-on-month and 14.78% year-on-year to N171.34 in December 2017 from N138.19 in November 2017.
