According to the activist, Adeboye who is an elder states man in Yorubaland has been silent as Fulanis have continued to kill men and women in Yoruba land.  He said he would not ''greet''  or sympathize with Adeboye because the clergyman doesn't support the call for a Yoruba nation. “Has Baba supported the Yoruba nation that we will now be greeting him? Gofundme Page Opened For Sunday Igboho By Yorubas Abroad

Yorubas in the diaspora have opened A GoFundMe Page for controversial activist Sunday ‘Igboho’ Adeyemo, saying it was to aid a struggle for the Oduduwa Republic. The campaign is aimed at funding a fleet of vehicles and other equipment for Igboho and his followers, who have been at the forefront of a renewed agitation for the actualisation of Yoruba’s secession from Nigeria. The campaign could add another layer of complication to the raging national conversation about Nigeria’s unity under President Muhammadu Buhari, whose governing style has been evidently sectional and divisive. Already, pro-Biafran sentiments have gained widespread popularity amongst the Igbo ethnic stock occupying the country’s southeast. Igboho has been in the news lately over his campaign to drive Fula...

Herdsmen Attacks Will Stop If Government Is Serious About Ending It – Jimi Agbaje

Jimi Agbaje, a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday said youths who gave ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen to vacate Yorubaland must have acted out frustration after the government repeatedly failed to listen to their cries and save them from incessant attacks from bandits while the perpetrators were also not prosecuted. Violence had erupted in Igangan, Ibarapa, on Friday when a popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, well known as Sunday Igboho, alongside his followers, stormed the Fulani settlement in the ancient town to eject Seriki Fulani, Salihu Abdukadir, and herdsmen accused of perpetrating crimes ranging from kidnappings, killings, rape to invasion of farmlands with their cattle. Igboho had earlier given an ultimatum to herders to vacate Ibarapa area in Oyo State within seven days and also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take Fulani herders out of Yorubaland. The Oyo State Government has, however, commenced an investigation into Igboho’s threat. Replying to critics, Igboho said, "They said I’m not in government and that I’m interfering in what does not concern me but I have intervened in what concerns me because I am a Yoruba son." Alaafin, who listed the recent spate of insecurity in Yorubaland by herdsmen and their collaborators, lamented that President Buhari was not doing enough in addressing the menace. The monarch said Yorubas had all it takes to resort to self help, unless the security in the zone improves and people are guaranteed safety of their lives and property. In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, Adams lamented that democracy was yet to take its roots in Nigeria despite the sacrifices of the activists. We celebrate achievements of yesterday as if they are more important than the future. What is going on is an organised sub-regional plan to establish a Nigeria that fits into their own dream. When are we going to play the flute because every time we rush to the agenda they throw in our midst and we start panting? They dictate the pace of our Politics and power game. Prince Adedeji Soyebi who is the INEC National Commssioner for the south west is leading the team for the Ondo state governorship election tomorrow whilst Professor Kayode Soremilekun the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye is the Returning Officer. This is a dangerous combination. Both men are anti-PDP and Soremilekun is the same individual that was appointed as the returning officer for the Edo state 2016 governorship election.
