There Are 60 Police Checkpoints Between Lagos And Onitsha, Says Senator Chukwuka Utazi

Chukwuka Utazi, senator representing Enugu north, says there are 60 police checkpoints between Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra state. Utazi, moving a motion on the floor of the senate, on Thursday, lamented that the checkpoints were being used to oppress motorists and cause them hardship. The Federal Government has assured Nigerians of adequate fuel supply this Yuletide. The assurance was given at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Presidential Villa on Monday in Abuja. Yuletide: Nigerians Spent N359 Million In Cinemas

Movie lovers across Nigeria spent a total of N359 million in cinemas between December 21 and 27. This is according to data provided by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria and reported on Friday by TheCable. The five highest-grossing movies in the cinemas during the period were Aquaman, Chief Daddy, Bumblebee, Animated Spider -Man and God Calling. Aquaman grossed N168,434,137 while Chief Daddy grossed N101,979,343. King of Boys, Lionheart, Mary Poppins Returns, Mortal Engines and Grinch made up the other half of the top 10. Julius Berger To Open Diversions On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway During Yuletide—FRSC

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc., the construction company reconstructing the Lagos to Shagamu section of the Lagos /Ibadan Expressway has promised to open all diversions within the section during the Yuletide. The Ogun Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Clement Oladele, disclosed this at the flag-off of the `ember’ months’ campaign organised by the Ifo Command at the Ifo Motor Park on Thursday. Long Queues Resurface In Lagos, Petrol Hawkers Back

Lagos residents on Monday saw the return of long queues at petrol filling stations, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. A NAN correspondent, who monitored the situation, reports that many petrol stations did not have petrol, while the few ones that had sold above the official pump price of N145 per litre. Petrol hawkers were sighted along some routes selling 10 litres of petrol at N3,000 against the official pump price of N1,450 per litre. The scarcity is allegedly due to the pronouncement of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) to embark on an industrial action. The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Delta State, said, yesterday, that four persons died during the Yuletide in an auto crash. The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr. Rindom Kunven, who disclosed this, said that a fatal crash claimed two males and two females, while three were seriously injured. He said the accident occurred some two kilometres after Isele-Azagba and was caused by speeding by the driver of a vehicle with number plates AAA 946 CK, which resulted in loss of control. Kunven added that the corpses of the victims had already been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre morgue.
