Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has reacted to Tottenham’s decision to sack Jose Mourinho as their manager.
Tuchel said he was ‘surprised by the decision to sack Mourinho and says he “did not see it coming.”
Mourinho was relieved of his job on Monday with the club seventh in the Premier League having endured a difficult season all along.
The north London side faces Manchester City in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
“More or less I’m always a bit surprised when it happens [a managerial sack],” Tuchel told the press when asked about Mourinho’s departure.
“We’re all competitors and we all try to beat each other but in the end, we wish every manager has a good atmosphere and is in a good state and place to work.
“It never feels good as another manager when someone is sacked but it’s not my job to comment on that. It is what it is.
“Everybody fights hard for results and when a big decision comes like this, it was a surprise. I honestly didn’t see it coming.”
Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham manager in November 2019, signing a four-year contract with the club.
Pochettino on the other hand has guided Paris Saint-Germain to the semi-finals of the Champions League this season where they will face Pep Guardiola Manchester City side.
