Donald Trump’s former right-hand man Michael Cohen, 52 will spend 36 months in a federal prison in upstate New York for his lies, fraud and campaign finance violations, a federal judge in New York has ruled.
He will also pay almost $2 million in fines and forfeitures.
Cohen wept in court as he pleaded to avoid jail and spoke of how he had covered up Donald Trump’s ‘dirty deeds’ – a reference to secret payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal to buy their silence before the election on claims of sex with Trump.
He will report to medium-security Otisville Federal Correctional Facility on March 6. Trump says Cohen’s crimes are his own doing.
